1. Information we collect
We collect the information needed to run ChalkBerry, which may include:
- family owner account details such as name, email address, and password hash;
- student profile details added inside a family workspace;
- uploaded practice work, answer keys, question papers, and generated reports;
- billing profile data such as billing name, billing email, and billing phone; and
- operational logs, device/browser metadata, and audit records needed for reliability and security.
2. How we use information
We use collected information to:
- authenticate users and manage family workspaces;
- process uploads and generate reports, analytics, and study guidance;
- operate subscription billing, invoices, credits, and referral rewards;
- respond to support, demo, and compliance requests; and
- improve reliability, fraud controls, and service quality.
3. Payments and payment processors
ChalkBerry uses hosted Razorpay checkout for subscription and top-up payments. We store billing contact details, checkout references, invoices, payment status, and limited payment metadata needed for reconciliation, support, and refund handling.
ChalkBerry does not store full card numbers, CVV values, bank account passwords, or UPI PINs. Those details are handled by Razorpay and the relevant payment network or banking partner under their own compliance obligations.
4. Sharing and disclosure
We share information only where needed to operate the service or comply with law, including with:
- cloud storage, hosting, email, and analytics providers acting on our instructions;
- Razorpay and related payment partners for billing, fraud checks, and refunds;
- professional advisers or authorities where disclosure is legally required; and
- recipients of report-share links that a workspace owner intentionally creates.
We do not sell personal information.
5. Retention and deletion
We retain data for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain billing records, resolve disputes, and meet legal or operational obligations. Inactive data may persist in backups or audit logs for a reasonable period.
Families can request deletion through our Data Deletion page or by contacting support.
6. Children and family-managed accounts
ChalkBerry is intended to be managed by a parent, guardian, or other authorized adult when student profiles belong to minors. The family owner is responsible for deciding what student data is uploaded and with whom any reports are shared.
7. Security and your choices
We use role-based access controls, private storage patterns, and audit logging to reduce unauthorized access risk, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
You may request updates to billing or contact information from within the product, and you may contact [email protected] for privacy questions.
